how does one get duplicate prints of super8 footage, and is it terribly expensive. for my first project, i simply hacked up the original film and i'd prefer to have an edit-reel to work from. any ideas?

There are a few places around that do make contact prints of S8 to S8. If you are going to make prints which cost about 50 cents a foot then I would think about doing a 16mm blow-up for about the same rate. If you want to stay on S8 then contact Yale. Good Luck

thanks for the info. i have no way to view or edit 16mm, so i have to stay on super 8. is a "work print" usually more expensive than if i am just having a roll of b&w reversal developed?

    thanks again for the help.

In order to have a "workprint" made if you shot reversal, means that you need to have an internegative made, then strike you print off of that. What you need to do is either be very careful with your film or invest money in the steps to have it printed. In my opinion if I were going to have the work done I would have it all blown-up. But, then again I guess it all depends on what you plan on doing. Good Luck--email me if you have any questions.

Yale charges $.45 per foot for super8 contact prints. That includes
print stock and processing. So really, that's not bad.
Add up what it would cost for two 50ft carts of film
and processing. By the way, they "only" work with
reversal film so you "don't" need to make a negative.
There is a 100ft min. Yale is a good lab. Very friendly,
professional and quick to fill your order.
